How Health and Wellness Is Defining the New Year in 2025

Every year, as the bustle of the holiday shopping season slows down and all of the seasonal food options disappear, health and wellness become a top focus. It doesn’t matter if you’re setting an ambitious New Year’s resolution or simply using January 1st as a chance to hit the restart button. The fresh start to the calendar represents a hopeful chance to better one’s health — and 2025 is no exception.

Here are some of the biggest areas of health people are focused on heading into 2025.

Top Health Resolutions for 2025

No matter what way you look at it, health remains a resounding focal point for personal investment heading into the new year. One poll by Finder in the UK found that health far out-ranked all other resolutions for 2025, with 43% of respondents making it a priority.

Of course, “health” is a vague, multifaceted answer. Another poll by YouGov provided a more detailed picture of the 2025 New Year’s resolution landscape in the U.S. Key among the findings was the fact that six out of the top seven resolutions were health-related

What Health Resolutions Are Americans Zeroed In On?

There is a lot of nuance among the top New Year’s resolutions this year. When you break it down, though, Americans in 2025 are focused on three key areas in particular.

Physical Health

22% of those asked chose “Improving physical health” as a resolution. The same number also selected exercising more as a priority. This reflects the growing emphasis that healthcare providers are putting on exercise as a preventative measure for longevity (which is a top consumer trend for the 2025 health and wellness sector).

Diet and Weight Loss

Managing health in other areas is another key focal point for consumers heading into 2025. 20% of people said eating healthier was a goal in the New Year, while 17% put losing weight as a goal. The desire to clean up dietary habits and maintain healthy weights is a goal that resonates with the growing desire to not just live longer but cultivate quality of life.

Mental Health

The newest addition to the top health and wellness trends is cognitive in nature. 22% of New Year’s resolution setters chose simply “being happy” as a main goal this year. A further 17% were more specific, selecting “improving mental health” as a personal objective. Mental health has been a spotlight concern ever since the isolation struggles of the pandemic, and it continues to have a profound impact on consumer trends and health and wellness markets.

Setting Up Your Health and Wellness Brand to Thrive in 2025

So, what is the takeaway of all of this resolution setting for brands operating in the health and wellness sector? First, don’t stop doing what you’re doing. Broad topics like exercise, diet, and mental wellness have been and will remain focused areas that drive consumer behavior.

Second, now that we’re multiple years out from the pandemic, it’s time to reassess. If you’re a supplement manufacturer, do you have the products to meet the needs listed above? If you have SKUs in place, are you able to get them in front of the people that need them?
